Wedding Week

This was the busiest week I’ve ever experienced since baking cakes. On top of cake orders, my sweet Mimi passed away and that called for a special day trip to Texas to say goodbye to her one last time. Needless to say, I was up until the wee hours of the morning several nights this last week just tying up loose ends.

With the help of my husband and some serious prayer, I made it through that week and that sea of cupcakes.

WEDDING CAKE

This order was for a beautiful, intimate wedding this weekend. The bride requested a smaller gold accented wedding cake accompanied by 125 cupcakes.

The wedding cake is a classic wedding cake - white cake and almond vanilla buttercream. It boasts a hand painted deckled edge and a rustic textured finish.

CUPCAKES

I only accept cupcake orders under certain conditions. One of those conditions is when your favorite librarian-turned-successful entrepreneur/business owner asks you to.

Pictured are about half of the 125 cupcakes, all evenly split between German Chocolate, Vanilla, and Strawberry flavors.

GERMAN CHOCOLATE

Each German Chocolate cupcake was cored and stuffed with coconut filling and wafer pecan crunch and topped off with chocolate buttercream - just like my German Chocolate Cake. (I wish I would’ve gotten a cross-section picture of one of these!)

VANILLA

The vanilla cupcakes were made from my classic vanilla recipe and are paired with vanilla buttercream. They’re perfectly complemented by a gold sprinkle mix from Sprinkle Pop.

STRAWBERRY

Finally, the strawberry cupcakes were made from fresh strawberry purée along with the strawberry buttercream. They provide a welcomed pop of color in the sea of vanilla and chocolate.

I’m only one person, but “Homemade by Celena” wouldn’t even be a thing without Thomas Grant, too. Trust me when I say the man does it all. If you see him, tell him how great of a job he’s doing - at everything.

Enjoy!
