FAQs

How do I order a cake?

Ordering a cake? Exciting! To get started, you’ll want to get a quote, filling out all of the required information. Afterwards, I will be in touch via email regarding your order. Exciting, right?!

No Ghosts

To get your order juuust right, I’ll need you to reply to my messages within a reasonable amount of time – otherwise, I may just have to wing it (I’m good at wingin’ it – just ask my eyeliner). Questions for me? Please give me about 6-8 hours to reply – I’m usually covered in buttercream!

Do you make other items besides cakes?

No. Currently, I only offer cakes. Cupcakes, pies, custom sugar cookies, etc. are absolutely wonderful, but cakes are my passion and frankly, they’re what I’m good at! If you need recommendations for other bakery items like cupcakes or cookies, I happen to know some pretty amazing local bakers who can definitely help you out.

When should I place my order?

As a rule of thumb, please submit any cake inquiries at least 4-6 weeks before your event. For wedding cakes, inquiries should be submitted at least 3 months in advance. I cannot guarantee availability for each and every order as there is only one of me (for now), but will confirm the availability details in my follow-up communication with you after you submit your inquiry.

Is there a waitlist?

Yes! If you submit your inquiry and I am not available for the date of your event, you will be automatically placed on a waitlist. If a spot opens up, you’ll be contacted with an email asking if you would still like to place an order for the day that you inquired about.

Does my order require a deposit?

Yes! You pay - I bake! 50% of the total order amount will be due upon booking to guarantee availability effective January 1, 2022. This applies to all customers and all orders. The remaining 50% of the total order amount is due the week of your event.

How do I pay you?

Celena Grant Cake Company accepts Venmo, PayPal, and cash payments. No personal checks are accepted. Cash payments must be arranged prior to order placement.

Price Adjustments

All prices are subject to change. Prices are often dictated by ingredients costs. I’m always trying to provide the best-tasting cakes to my clients. This also means that I can’t honor old pricing (because the grocery store won’t honor their old flour prices – darn it).

Do you deliver?

Yes! I do accept delivery orders for an additional fee. Delivery fees depend on travel time/mileage and availability.

No show = No cake

Your cake is best enjoyed fresh. Not showing up to the agreed upon pick-up time or not being available for the arranged delivery time forfeits your order. But take heart, your cake will be donated to a family in need. Need to reschedule your order? Let me know! We can probably work something out.

Inspiration Photos and Your Cake

Thanks a ton for sending me inspo pictures! They are just that – inspiring. While your cake may not be a perfect replica, I’ll try my best to keep it as close as possible. I have digital cake sketches available upon request if you’d like to see exactly what I’m envisioning!

Can I make changes from my original design?

Decisions are tough! But I’m here to help. Order changes can be made until 7 business days before your order is due to be collected or delivered. After that, all change requests will be under consideration and a small fee will apply.

Product Photography

Say Cheese! I create replicas of client orders to photograph those pretty sweet lookin’ cakes. If you do not want your cake(s) in the spotlight, please let me know at the time you place your order. Your secrets are safe with me.

Pictures are worth a thousand words

But they are not always 100% accurate. Colors and lighting in photos may be slightly different than your final product.

Copycats

Copyright images (think Star Wars and Peppa Pig) are protected and I won’t be able to replicate them onto my cakes (who wants a cake copyright controversy, right?). I can make a similar color palette though, so let’s talk!

Achoo! Allergies?

My cakes are often made with foods that can be known allergens like milk and eggs. While I can do my best to accommodate, I can’t always accommodate allergy-conscious orders. Please reach out anyway – I may have a perfect referral for ya!

Cottage Food Laws

All orders are made in my home kitchen not inspected by the State of Alabama. My kitchen is not nut free, egg free, dairy free, gluten free. Boring disclaimer, but we have to say it per the law. *tips cowboy hat* *straightens Sheriff pin*

Bulk Order?

Due to the custom work required for each cake, I’m unable to extend discounts regardless of quantity. If you have a specific budget you are working with, feel free to let me know in advance and I’ll do my absolute best to offer you a solution that fits your budget.

What happens to the personal information I provide to you on my website?

Any personal information (email address, names, etc.) you provide to Celena Grant Cake Company is covered under my Privacy Policy which can be read in detail here. Payments submitted via celenagrantcakeco.com (currently only accepted for merchandise) fall under Squarespace’s SSL policy.
