Oreo Fudge Cheesecake Cake

Cheesecake

Don’t tell cake this, but sometimes there’s nothing better than cheesecake!

A recent trip down memory lane - thanks to Facebook memories - took me to a cheesecake that I made last year.

It was an Oreo cheesecake from Six Sister’s Stuff *cue the drool*.

It had an Oreo crust and classic cheesecake filling to which I decided to add some chocolate chips - definitely one of my better decisions.

Conversion

To convert this recipe into a cake, we started from the bottom!

  • Dark chocolate cake layers baked on an Oreo crust

  • Chocolate chip cheesecake filling

  • Oreo fudge buttercream

Oreo Buttercream

The buttercream, you guys, the buttercream! It’s a new recipe. It’s made with a chocolate base, but to amp up the Oreo flavor I added in some black cocoa powder that tastes EXACTLY like Oreos! When I tell you I was blown away! The reviews state the powder tastes like Oreos, but in my head I was all “no way, absolutely not, cannot duplicate the flavor of an Oreo”.

I was wrong. Here’s the exact powder I use if you’re interested in making everything you eat and drink taste like Oreos - looking at you, coffee lovers.

Due to the addition of the cocoa powder, the buttercream is a bit thicker than my traditional chocolate buttercream - hence the fudge reference - so we went with a textured, rustic (messy) finish.

Looks wise, it’s such a simple cake because there isn’t much contrast going on, but what it lacks in aesthetics, it more than makes up for in taste

I think we have a new favorite chocolate cake in the running…

Enjoy!
