Holly Jolly Cake

Another thing I love about Christmas aside from the ugly sweaters is wrapping presents.

Every December I sit in the floor for hours wrapping presents - Thomas can attest to this.

Wrapping brings me the same kind of joy that decorating a cake brings me!

The colors for this cake were inspired by some of my very favorite wrapping paper this year from Target. See, there’s inspiration everywhere!

The “bow” and ribbon are navy fondant. I don’t like eating fondant, so I remove as many fondant decorations from my cake before digging in. Easy peasy.

The stripes are all almond buttercream colored with AmeriColor gels. Cakes with stripes take a good bit of time - I probably spent about an hour just scraping this cake.

And last but certainly not least, we’ve got a PINK velvet cake inside. I omitted the Red Velvet extract that I would normally use, and instead added a bit of citrus extract and pink food coloring. But yes - this cake still has cocoa powder in it!

It turned out amazing! One of the most fluffy and moist cakes I’ve ever made.

Enjoy!
