Bravery

I had the honor of making a groom’s cake for a lovely March wedding this past week.

Alicia reached out to me to make her son’s (Zach) groom’s cake, as he will be deployed with the Army National Guard soon.

We decided on a design that captured what Zach loves most - serving his country, and his dog, Cash.

This cake is a honey-bun-inspired cake with yellow cake layers, cinnamon sugar streusel, powdered sugar glaze, and brown sugar buttercream.

The bottom tier is built to resemble Zach’s service blues, complete with pockets, buttons, and patch detailing.

The top tier is an American Flag made completely out of buttercream, with white stars. The hat is the cherry on top (literally) and was constructed using fondant and quite a bit of molding.

Quietly sitting between the two tiers is a replica of Zach’s dog, Cash. Of course, he deserves to have some cake, too.

Thank you, Zach, for your service to our country. I pray that the Lord blesses you and your family for your display of selflessness and bravery.

Congratulations to Zach and Emma!
